Kerpoof

In our last seminar, Mandy gave us each a particular website for kids, where they could use and learn  animation skills. The website I was given was called Kerpoof, a website owned by Walt Disney. Our task was to evaluate the website based on its animation methods and other aspects which made up the site.

I believe the site was easy to use and navigate, which made it very child friendly. There's many different activities to do on the website, numerous of them animation based, some of these include:

  • Animation movies
  • Drawings and pictures
  • Tell a story
Other activities which wasn't animation based includes:

  • making t-shirts and mugs
  • making a card (choice of celebration)
  •  spell a picture (game)

Also if your a first user and nervous about using the site there's no need to worry as there's tutorials. I also found that the sites wasn't just for children use of pleasure but could be used as a lesson in schools. There were numerous lessons plans for teachers based upon the website.

Overall, I would recommend the site however I did find some drawbacks. to use some aspects of the site you have to have a membership, which is free. Also not all animations in  the activity are free, you have to buy them from the shop with "koins", these you can gain throughout many activities on the website. For young children their membership has to be approved by an adult.

Reflective Process

Here is a mind map I made of my reflection process. I am an higher education student so my learning progress is my responsibility.
To create the mind map Mandy introduced us to a site 'bubbl.us', once learning how to use  the gadgets  I found the site useful and easy to use, I would recommend it to others and definitely be using it in the future.
